Opening Ceremony

Join us to kick off this year’s conference with some traditional Newfoundland music as you mingle with fellow evaluators and participate in a silent auction. Auction items have been generously donated and the proceeds will support the Canadian Evaluation Society Educational Fund (CESEF).

CES-CESEF Case Competition Awards Reception

Taste of George Street

Monday, June 6, 19:00-21:00, Meeting Point: Sheraton lobby

Come experience famous George Street where we will start the night with fish and chips and craft beer (or drink of your choice) at one of the oldest structures in North America, Yellowbelly Brewery and Public House. From there, join us as we visit several George street pubs and sample local beverages and live music! Come prepared to evaluate the experience along the way! Transportation to Yellowbelly is included in the cost.

Join two-time CES student case competition finalists Sandra Parsons and Olivia Cleary at Piatto, a trendy downtown restaurant specializing in authentic Neapolitan pizza, it was featured on the Food Network’s “You Gotta Eat Here!

Meet with the president of the CES Newfoundland chapter, Patricia King, and enjoy a modern, open-concept dining experience at the Merchant Tavern where you can watch an award-winning chef prepare delicious cuisine using local ingredients.

Dine with Bea Courtney, a long-time volunteer with CES at the chapter and national level. As a townie, she looks forward to introducing you to the Duke of Duckworth, a long-standing favourite pub in the heart of downtown, this pub was regularly featured on CBC’s “Republic of Doyle”. The Duke features great pub food and the largest selection of draught beers in the city.

Kitchen Party

Tuesday, June 7, 21:00-23:00, Location: Salon A/B

Join delegates for a true Newfoundland experience – a traditional Newfoundland Kitchen Party, featuring live, traditional Newfoundland music and a group Screech-In. A “Screech-In” is a ceremony to welcome people who are visiting Newfoundland and Labrador. Ceremony participants will learn some old Newfoundland phrases, lock lips with a codfish and sample a shot of famous Screech rum. All participants are presented with a “Screech In” Certificate as proof of their status as an Honourary Newfoundlander.
